Dulcie Clegg paints in a bold, loose, free style and describes her work as being somewhere in the middle, between abstract and realism.

Without doubt Dulcie’s greatest artistic influence was Archibald Prize Winning artist, William Robinson, her tutor in her foremost years. His teachings on form and colour were superb. Dulcie is also influenced by the works of Kandinsky and Matisse.

Over the years Dulcie has developed and refined techniques and interpretations. Her work is continually evolving. Spontaneous yet disciplined, textured surfaces and rich exotic colours are a constant theme. She works non-objectively, allowing speculation, change and discovery to produce a range of exciting compositions.

Painting takes up a large part of Dulcie’s life. Over many years, Dulcie has enjoyed teaching beginners to appreciate the love of watercolour painting. She breaks for family visits and travel and has enjoyed sketching and painting in the Solomon Islands, Asia, Venice and France.

A regular exhibitor of local Brisbane Art Shows, she is a Life Member of the Watercolour Society of Queensland and a past President of The Aspley Art Group and is a member of the Queensland Art Collective.

“I am happiest when I can express my impressions through the medium of my art.” Dulcie Clegg
