Graham W Smith is a fellow of the Royal QLD Art Society and Master Pastellist with the Pastel Society of Australia. He has completed over 2700
paintings in 50 years.

Artistic Highlights include;

Government House, Queensland commission: In 2000, Government House in Bardon, Brisbane commissioned 6 watercolours for their permanent collection to show future generations the estate at the start of each century.

Arts Queensland appointment: In august 2013 graham has been engaged as an arts industry expert/peers to assist a panel in assessing grant applications for Queensland artists.

Television art show: In 2008-9 Briz 31 recorded twelve episodes where the artist completed a full painting demonstration in all mediums which was also aired in Sydney and Melbourne.

Movie “Goldstone”: In May 2015 the art director purchased two oil paintings for the movie “Goldstone” starring Jacki Weaver while it was being filmed at Winton, QLD with one clearly visible when it was released June 2016.

Tutor in all mediums: Graham has held over 130 workshops for art societies and regional art galleries in most states in Australia and conducts private tuition at his Wynnum studio for adults and teenagers.

Art judge: Judging engagements include 32nd Hervey Bay art competition – 2015, Mt Isa, Blackwater, Bell, Gatton, Beenleigh Rotary, Watercolour Society of QLD, Beenleigh show, Redlands show and other venues.

Urban smart projects – Brisbane City Council: In July 2016, Graham was commissioned to provide a design and complete an acrylic painting on a traffic signal box at creek road, Mt Gravatt East.

Art scholarship to New York: In 2005, Graham was awarded a scholarship for tuition at the Pastel Society of America in New York for 2 weeks and Arts Queensland paid him a $3,300 travel grant to attend this course.

Artist-in-residence – blackall and kingfisher bay resort: In 2008 graham was “artist-in-residence”, tutor and feature artist at the blackall heartland festival! In 2009 graham was also “artist-in-residence” for a week at this resort on fraser island.

Prizes include:

$500 Acquisitive First Prize – Jacaranda Award for “Homestead and Jacaranda Tree” painting, any medium with a watercolour, “Jacaranda at Grafton” which was a demonstration of a half sheet watercolour for 12 students at a regional art society.

Won over 31 acquisitive awards for watercolour with a prize money value of over $1,000.
