Julie Cane - Fine Art

Julie lives and works in Brisbane, having relocated from England in 2011 with her young family. She has been painting in watercolour and oil for most of her life, however she has also worked in acrylic, pastel and pencil. She enjoys painting nature, wildlife, landscape and flowers. 

 

Julies art education has mainly been informal, attending demonstrations workshops and courses where ever possible, her biggest influences have been Trevor Waugh for colour, watercolour and oil painting techniques, Pauline Dean for Botanical Art, and John Wilson for Plein Air capture of the Australian landscape.

 

Julie achieved Fellowship of the Marquetry Society in 2002  and membership of the Society of Botanical Artists in 2004. Julie has exhibited many paintings in Wiltshire and London, with work being shown in Central Hall Westminster and the Mall Galleries. Julie has also completed  a number of commissions and her work is in private collections throughout the UK, and Australia. Julie has also taught at various art groups since 2002. Julie had a successful solo exhibition in August 2012 and is now exhibiting in various group shows where she has had a number of successes, including winning the Lethbridge 10,000 Small Scale Art Award in 2014.
