Szczepan Urbanowicz reignited his passion for painting about 4 years ago in 2013.

Fascinated by the unforgiving nature of the medium, he started his watercolour adventure by joining and sketching alongside a number of local urban artists – the “Brisbane Urban Sketchers”, "Brisbane City Sketchers" and the Brisbane “Plein-Air” Group.

Through 2015 and 2016 Szczepan attended two workshops in Melbourne led by arguably one of the world's leading watercolourists - Alvaro Castagnet. In May 2017 he extended his steep learning curve to attend a further workshop led by New Zealand watercolour artists Jacky Pearson.

Szczepan is currently a Member of the Watercolour Society of Queensland and has recently started maintaining and updating the WSQ website.

He is interested in pursuing and developing his passion for “plein-air” painting. He enjoys the "spontaneity" and freedom that watercolour affords and its ability to reveal, to play with and accentuate the conditions of "light" and "mood" in the everyday life.

See his website at or his images on Instagram. Additionally, there are a number of watercolour demonstration of the images below. These can be found on his Youtube channel.
