Autumn Exhibition
posted: 6 April 2017

Forty-five members of the society exhibited their work at the recent Autumn Exhibition held at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens on 1 - 2 April. It was a successful exhibition with 260 framed and unframed paintings on display. Hundreds of people took the opportunity to visit the exhibition in sunny weather following a wet lead-up to the event due to ex-Cyclone Debbie.

In addition to the traditional category, there were fifteen artists who participated in the newly created innovative category. This category allows the artists to create contemporary textures using a variety of mediums such as acrylic, gesso and collage.

Innovative | Nature Mt Cootha | Roger Callen

Traditional | Poppy Love | Carolyn Slack

This was a great opportunity to raise awareness of the Watercolour Society of Queensland to the general public to increase membership as well as to promote the different styles of watercolour.

Thanks to all the volunteers who welcomed the visitors, the hangers, those who worked on the busy sales table as well as the artists who donated the paintings for the raffle which made this exhibition such a success.
